Makeup Revoultion Amazing Lipsticks | Reviewed

Sunday, 14 September 2014

Matte formulas are what I'm all about this summer, I adore moisturising matte to semi-matte finishes but spending money on lip products which I don't wear as often as I should just doesn't appeal to me. So high street beauty will always be where I will search High & Low for my next wanted colour.

So with a new brand on the block offering budget friendly formulas I couldn't resist at £1 a pop.

I'm always looking for the perfect pale dusky pink shades which suit my skin tone amazingly.

After hopping online to find some goodies makeup revolution have I decided that even though there is variety of shades available they were either not my colour or not the finish I desired.

The first shade I picked was a matte finish in NUDE it was one of those it's only a pound I'll try it Kim K looks good in that colour so I will right? Wrong, although it looks slightly strange on the eye giving me the dreaded year 9 concealer lips so wearing on it's own is a big no-no, i've found it really helps intensify other shades helping to keep my lips slightly moisturised prolonging the wear of better colours on top.
On the lips it looks fine lasting between 2-3 hours providing lips are exfoliated & moisturised before hand otherwise they can feel drying.

This pinky matte shade in DEVINE has got to be my favourite purely as it looks great in
all weathers for all occasions, last of all on pale skin tones too.
Again with it being the same formulation as before this lasts up to 3 hours as long as you've prepared your smackers before.

I do like the shade MYSTIFY it has more of a sheen glossy finish compared to the others, you can get away just applying straight to your lips too with added moisturising benefits & no drying out in sight.
Lasting power | up to 2 hours as it transfers quickly leaving it to be rubbed off a lot more easily.
Another desirable attribute this shade has is the blue undertones it contains which are perfect for giving you the illusion of even brighter pearly whites!

The only downside to these are the packaging, 2/3 no longer have the easy to use twist up  action as the outer tube that helps do this has completely just unglued coming apart,
making them a little more fiddly to use.

At a bargain price of £1 though, more patience in a morning won't hurt.

Primark Beauty | Nails

Wednesday, 3 September 2014

A spree in Primark is certainly without an unnecessary purchase, yes you know what I'm talking about those sunnies you think are cool but will never wear or that top you liked, that will never see the light of day, sleeping in it is just about acceptable?

I'm guilty of this too.

Now these beauty bits are not something I need but with a revamped range to try, you can never have enough polishes in your collection.

So with curiosity and colours to love and prices you just can't turn down I picked up...

Gel Effect Top Coat
This will make your colour shine with its glossy finish after taking up to 10 minutes to fully dry, but I wouldn't say it prolonged the wear of my base totally after a few days I discovered chips on the ends of my nails, considering the £1 price tag I would repurchase if I was needing something in a rush or if I was looking for a budget friendly non expensive product.

Nail Polish Remover Twist Pot
I bought this to compare to my Bourjois 1 Second Remover with a price difference of around £4 it does certainly live up to its competitors. The concept of these are pretty obvious pop your finger in twist and ta'dah your polish has magically disappeared. Polish in both are very pleasant with no pungent scents they do the same job well however the Primark sponge does deteriorate after uses especially when removing glitter particles other than that I can't fault. TIP* if your sponge does become a bit tatty head to your local discount store get & cut a sponge to fit, fill with you fave remove yourself then it'll be as good as new.

Nail Polish In Cobalt Blue
The colour drew me in as soon as I saw it for a £1 I had to try. Formula wise it is quite thin as well as runny, but with care, patience along with time, this polish could certainly be a dead ringer for other brands out there.
Use of a basecoat is essential otherwise stained fingers is what you'll get, as for the wear time at best it will stretch to 4 days at best before looking miserable.

What budget friendly nail bits have you found?

Blue Liner & Bronzed Makeup Look | Eyes

Monday, 1 September 2014

Having bought recently a few new eye shadows, I thought it was time to switch up my look incorporating a few colours on trend this season.

Used:
W7 shadow stick in coffee as the base,
Vivo Unprotected Palette Shades used were wisp & forever in the crease, alongside the tear duct etc.
Vivo Teal Green Single eye-shadow used in the crease blended out to the corner & underneath the eye,
Vivo unprotected palette shade ...... used For eyeliner I used
Daniel Sandler Eyeliner in aqua blue on the lower lash line and top liner.
Maybelline Colossal Mascara in the waterproof formula on both top & bottom lashes.
To finish off, a sumdging of the shade free as eyeliner completes the look.

I had been staring at the aqua blue liner for so long not knowing how to use it, so this is the look I came up with using bronzed golden orange shades that help complement my blue eyes.

What eye liner shade have you dared to wear?

Models Own Nail Polish | Review

After receiving yet another enticing email in my inbox I just couldn't resist the great deal Models Own have going on. To say I wasn't the biggest fan of the formulation of a few years ago now I've completely changed my mind about them now.

The hyper gel polishes are amazing! The staying power of these and the shiny salon finish look they leave is incredible considering the £5 price tag.

Along with the shiny finish they last after a good top coat up to 7 days.
I got to day 10 with the red shade before they started looking tatty. Defiantly a time saver if your days & nights are busy but you want to save money on a salon manicure.

The colours i've tried are opaque within one coat for the red, the others take three for me just making them look a lot more pristine. No matter how much I can praise these bottles of goodness they're a pain in the butt when it come to drying none the less the dry time makes for a better finish that's how I try to justify them anyway.

If I'd of bought the whole collection I think I would have been carted off for nail polish buying rehab but i've finally come to terms sometimes you really don't need 4 polishes all in the same shade of lilac & pink.

So for now I'm restrained god help me if they release any other shades or for that matter new collections!

What brand of polish do you always reach for?
