April Favourites

Wednesday, 1 May 2013

First up I've been suffering from really brittle nails and sadly my only long lasting nail broke a few days ago so this sapphire nail file (the type I prefer to use) I picked up on whim from Superdrug is the perfect tool, super handy to pop into my bag plus the little sleeve it comes in helps keep it protected too!
 £1.49 at Superdrug,

This moisturiser is one I've used now for many years great for oily skin as the name would suggest simple oil balancing moisturiser a little mattifying and lasting moisture just what I look for and so it defiantly deserve to be in my April favourites.
75 ml for £4.25 Superdrug/Boots,

My one and only eye make up remover, I remember I only bought the Garnier Essential 2 in 1 make-up remover because it was on offer, I've not looked at any other since it's that good. I find it just breaks down whatever products on my eye waterproof mascara too (this is due to the liquid technology you know the ones you shake to mix together), there's no horrible greasy residue left on my skin after use plus it doubles up as a face cleanser, so it'd be great if your a frequent traveller.
£2.99 on offer at Boots 2 for £4,

Next the Aquaphor balm this was actually something I picked up after reading one of my many glossy mags but it turned out to be the wrong thing, but with a little Google and some trial and error on my part it's such a useful multi purpose product.
It's basically a lubricated oil so it's great for super dry skin but I like to use this after plucking my brows to soothe skin and once a week I slather it all over my face just to give it added moisture I remove from using scrubs most day's. Be warned a little goes a long way and yes you look like your ready to cook an egg on face it's that oily but the things you do always turn good in the end right?
Plus it's great for blisters + babys!
40ml for £8.50 at Boots,

Another great essential product in my morning routine is the The Body Shop Pore Minimiser to blur my large pores and prevent blemishes the perfect balanced face primer for any skin type.
30 ml for £7.50 at The Body Shop,
Now the weather's supposedly warming up I can't rely on my bobble hat to hide hair I should of washed the night before or when I'm just having a bad hair day so this amazingly wonderful product Batiste Dry Shampoo in the scent tropical (fave smell fyi) is now my best friend for the rest of the year until it becomes hat and scarf season again, let's not hope it's any time soon ha!
200 ml at Boots for £2.99.

Last of all as this is actually my first favourites posts why not add some random ones in too,

I love love love this album after hearing pompeii and listening to the album snippets on itunes I just had to have this on my ipod it's been playing non-stop for the past two weeks!

Now I know these aren't the healthiest breakfast option but there too good not to eat and being the big kid I am I will never stop eating them. Golden Nuggets are the best! YEEE HAA!!

Last of all EBAY! I'm currently selling some bits to save money for my London trip in June I do work but every little helps! And although I maybe good at selling things I've tried so hard to bid and buy things but somebody ALWAYS seems to beat me at the very last second, it's so frustrating but in the long run it saves me money so I won't complain.
What's your favourite thing of the month?

What I Bought Haul

Monday, 25 February 2013

I recently went through a stage of buying nothing which was great for my bank balance but not so much for my addiction of buying all things necessary and of course UNnecessary so I give in and bought just a few bits and pieces....

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pore & Shine I've noticed these popping up in blog posts recently and they seemed like they would work for my skin so thought I would try them out. (I'm loving the green'y lime packaging)
3 for 2 at superdrug / £4.49each

Garnier Skin Naturals Moisture Match i picked up the one for Dull Skin which is in the orange coloured packaging mainly for the fact is says 24 hour hydration, I can't wait to try it out. They're currently on offer at Superdrug for £3.99! Usually £5.99.

Simple Cleansing Wipes an essential repurchase, they've recently been re-packaged with improved goodness of added vitamins and a newer softer feel oooo'err!

Simple Oil Balancing Moisturiser a definite essential for my skin, I always make sure to pick one up when there on offer just because I like to stock up as well as take advantage of a good deal.
Offer at superdrug for £3 atm!

Garnier Mineral Deodorant I don't know about you but I buy deodorant purely for the smell and for the anti-perspirant properties of course, so when my favourite scent (invisicool) is on offer I always have to stock up.

MUA fur-effect nails these seemed like a good idea at the time but now not so much.

Models Own Wah Nail Pens after watching many (too many) nail tutorials I was inspired to create some amazing designs on my nails but the amazingness that I saw in my head did not quite go to plan in reality and I failed miserably.

I love to read so after a little browse in whsmith' I picked up these two books which were on offer at 2 for £7 a deal I couldn't turn down. The Sophie Kinsella book is my kind of read and as I like lovely bones the film I decided to read the story too.

I'm just a big kid at heart

I saved the best till last my new shoessssss there a slipper style shoe with studded detail from new look not to everyone's taste I know, but I like them a lot even more so when they were reduced from £24.99 to a reasonable £12! (they look great with a pair of skinny jeans.)

Have you picked up any bargains recently?

Passion For Fashion Competition

Wednesday, 29 August 2012

So there's an amazingly generous competition being held by moneysupermarket called Passion For Fashion in which you have to create 5 outfits fitted to different themes (casual, work, party, outdoor and office wear) all for £200 or under it may sound easy but be sure to check the link for the rules and the additional info!
Onto my Entry.....
Casual
Outfit #2 Casual
Casual for me is a simple pair of jeans slightly dressed but has to be totally comfortable, comfort it always on top of my list and with this outfit i feel i have created this. With the Aztec jumper it adds a little bit of something something to an otherwise bland look, the collar also gives it some edge along with the stacked bracelets and the ankle boots too. Last of all the bag would be practical for everyday use as well as looking girly and cute.

Collar -Topshop- £15.00

 Boots -NewLook- £27.99
Jeans -Topshop- £38.00
Bag -RiverIsland- £35.00
Bracelet -Topshop- £20.00
Braclet -Topshop- £14.00
Jumper -NewLook- £37.99
Total: £187.98

Party
PassionForFashion Party Outfit #1
Again i like simple so it's not over the top or too dressy just enough for a classy party.
A favourite of mine is the blue dress as i feel blue compliments fair skin like my own, what's even better is it has a dipped hem but not only that (it has chiffion'y sides which would help to disguise wide hips bouns!) Moving on from the dress the accessories are kept to a minimum because i'm just not an over user of them but the shoes have studding detail on which tie in well together with the orange and gold accents making it an easy to outfit to wear.

Dress -RiverIsland£30.00
Shoe -Newlook£29.99
Watch -ASOS/RiverIsland£20.00
Clutch -Newlook£9.99
Earrings -ASOS£15.00
Total:  £104.98

Outdoor
Outfit #3
I'm not much of an outdoors'y kinda person (although i go outside everyday ha) but with nature, not such much so taking 'outdoor' i made it into an outfit i think relates sightly with the earthy tones, layering and warmth. Overall i love this outfit, with the all-in-one (probably not ideal in an emergency!) to the jumper which i would wear oversized, to the union jack wellies to the amazing faux leather sleeve jacket! Also i had to add the river island bag as i'm a fan of that style of bag and the fact i had no 'budget left' for a backpack ha.

All in One -Topshop£25.00
Jumper -NewLook£12.99
Dem Hem Top -RiverIsland£25.00
Sleeve Jacket -NewLook£44.99
Bobble Hat -Topshop£14.00
Wellies -Republic£25.00
Knee Socks -Topshop£6.00
Bag -RiverIsland£35.00
Ring Trio -Topshop£10.00
Total: £197.98

OFFICE

Work Outfit #4
So i found this look the most challangeing as i have no idea what would be appropriate in an office/smart job. So staying away from the white blouse black pant combo i decided to go with black and black ha. Leggings to me are for more casual/comfy attire but saying that these are slightly more smart like with wet look side panels and paired with right things they look fit for purpose. Onto the top it's simple but works (after putting this look together i now realise it's quite sheer so i'd defiantly wear something under it). With this look the blazer gives it the oomph it needs, a bright in your face colour which ties in well with the shoes, earrings, rings and that expensive looking bag. Oh the nails give it that extra bit of colour too!

Leggings -Topshop£20.00
Blazer -H&M£29.99
Shoes -Newlook£15.99
Models Own -ASOS£5.00
Earrings -Topshop£6.50
Bag -H&M£29.99
Blouse -Republic£25.00
Total: £132.47

First Date
Outfit #5

The last look, one of my favourite's especially for a first date i think this outfit is acceptable not to much but it shows you've made effort (always a good thing i guess ha). I love love love this cardigan it's great for the autumn and even winter months if you layer quite a lot, but i think it makes this outfit more relaxed rather than having a fitted jacket. The dress again is blue, a colour i like for my skin tone i accessorized it with a contrasting belt which breaks it up from the neutral side of colours from the cardigan and those shoes. I was in two minds wheather to choose flats or wedges but as long as you keep your balance you shouldn't fall over and make a fool of yourself (finger crossed ha!) Onto the most expensive item in this outfit the bag expensive but so worth it as i feel it just brings everything together.

Bag -Debenhams£65.00
Belt -Topshop£12.00
Necklace -ASOS£12.00
Wedges -Boohoo.com£35.00
Cardigan -NewLook£19.99
Bird Dress -NewLook£14.99
Total: £158.98

Hope you like my oufits!

What do you prefer comfy/causal or dressy/smart?

(: x
